I have our Proxy settings configured in the Default Domain Policy in the User section. It points to our ISA box on the network. Today one room needed internet access removing for a exam. SO for a quick fix i just edited the corresponding room GPO and put some false address in the GPO. This worked fine and the kids had no internet.
On the afternoon i edited the Room GPO and took out the flase address and also the tick to use Proxy settings. I then did a GPUPDATE /FORCE on the server and told the kids to reboot the machines. Trouble is after several reboots the internet settings had not been picked up and still no internet.
Have i missed somthing?

Ive had this trouble before with the proxy and trying to control the internet with it. There are a few settings you can look at to help. One that forces it to check for any changes I think (strange setting if you ask me!!) everytime.

Sometimes running gpupdate on the client sorts this out - don't know why though. Obviously on 2000 & XP.

Can you run gpupdate on a client remotely?

I use rpkiller to turn the internet off, saves so much hassle!

I am still having this problem even after running gpudate on the client. I also edited the Default DOmain Policy to a false address, ran GPupdate, so it would refresh down to all the OU's then I changed it back to the correct settings and it still is not working in the room i changed.

It might be worth your while using the Group Policy Modelling Wizard to see which GPOs are being applied to the computers/users of this room.

Security Filters and WMI filters come to mind too. The GPMC will reveal any problems though including filter issues.
