A quick google and I found this
hcrejazz's space theory could well be correct.
Check the startup items in the affected profiles:
On disk: %USERPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
In the registry: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
anyone got anymore suggestions please? its driving me crazy!
Did you?I'm pretty sure i did, i will try again though
Are you using a default profile in the server netlogon share?
yes, i put it into the users container with no profile, deleted the old local one and i get the same thing.
Thanks for your input.
Are you using a default profile?
Do the admin users have a roaming profile specified in the users tab?
I have tried with a default profile, roaming and mandatory. All the same though
So you have a default profile in the Netlogon folder on your DC servers?
If you have i'm thinking that this could be the problem as windows will always pick this up even if you don't specify it in GPO or the users tab.
sorry no the default user profile is on each machine locally. Sorry for the confusion.
Check your policy to see if you are running any logon scripts that don't exist anymore. Just your machine?
I guess it could be a broken service with netlogon being the current path during login.
That's a thought, thanks. Its happening on all machines on the network.
Are you running a vanilla setup or managed e.g. RM?
"Its happening on all machines on the network"
But just for admin right? If you create a new user with admin rights does it do it with the new user?
Vanilla, this is my home test network its happening with. Yes it does it to new admin accounts.
