Is DNS working OK? Have you checked the event log on your DC's for GP problems?

We had this a few days ago. It turned out to be a third domain controller that is ancient causing the problem. For some reason it had been left online and was found on top of a cab a few weeks ago.
I am going to be demoting it after xmas and getting rid of the horrible thing!.
Check how much disc space you have on the servers.

It seemed to with us. We had 15kb of space left, there was logs being added everyday and no one knew about them then they stopped because they run out of space.. I added some new ranger polices and there mustn’t have been enough space for them. So when they logged onto the concerned users that have the policy the whole lot failed to load.

Usual procedure applies here. Run netdiag, dcdiag and running ultrasound on the server from microsoft can show up certain things. When I ran it just to see what it did I found rerference to a few old objects causing trouble.
