    Slow printing

Note sure where else to put this (would have thought we would have a board for printing) ..

We have an issue where it seems to be taking an age to spool to our main MFD's from clients.
It does eventually go, but the clients are essentially frozen whilst its sending to the printer.

I have cleared the queue on the server and reset the spooler, but makes no difference.
    Server 2008 / XP or win 8.1

Any thoughts on where to look/things i might need to check?

In the printer properties, under advanced, is it set to print after last page is spooled or start immediately?
Also, under Ports, it might be worth trying with Bi-directional support disabled.
The other thing to look at would be drivers. Are you using PS, PCL, or manufactuers proprietory language?
Also, under "sharing", there's the option to "render on client computer" I think (from memory) this should be ticked to the processing happens locally rather than on the server. But you could see what happens if you untick it.

    Thanks ...

It's set to start immediately, but I have tried various settings.
Bi-directional is not available (greyed out)
    Im gonna check/change drivers now.
Under sharing it's set to 'render on client' but I've also tried both there as well.

I know with koncia printer it looks for the printer settings before it prints. (deleys it about 10secs before anything happens)
