    My Little Helpdesk and MySQL

Wasn't sure where I should post this query so apologies if its in the wrong place.
    [hr]
I've just downloaded My Little Helpdesk and have started to set it up using MySQL. I've run through the instructions provided and got up to the database restore using the provided .sql file.
Thats where I get an error.

Apparently, it can't read the .sql file because it wasn't created with MySQL Administrator and therefore need another character set specified.

I don't suppose anyone uses My Little Helpdesk and has managed to install it successfully?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

@paulsharpe: It sounds like you are trying to restore the file using MySQL Administrator as if it was a backup. MySQL Administrator adds a bit of blurb to the start of the SQL file when it does a backup and this is what it is looking for.

You would be best just firing it directly in using the CLI.

    stuck on step3

I have just purchased this software and I am stuck on step3.

I put the details in and click update then it throws up this messge.

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Access denied for user 'ODBC'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

    /MLH/install/step3.asp, line 37

I have put user and password details into the db_connect file so I am not sure what is wrong.

    Cheers

    Tony

    Any luck?

Have you managed to get anywhere with this? I note that you purchased it. Did you get full installtion instructions? I can't even get a reply from the help desk. I am giving up. Shame really - could have been useful.

@mant01: The error indicates that either the username or the password you have supplied are incorrect for the database your are trying to connect to.

the db_connect file has nothing to do with the installer as this is used once the database has been setup and you are ready to run your helpdesk. Yes it would be the same details but the 2 are not linked.

You need tomake sure on step 2 that you have supplied the correct details in order to connect to the database if they are wrong a failure will occur and the databse willnot be created.

Let me know if you require any further help on this.

@pmassingham: what was the problems you were having? which version were you trying to install?

Guys have you posted this in the support forum over at mylittlehelpdesk.co.uk I know Ozan is very busy at the moment but if you post them there it's more likely to attract his attention.

I've installed 0.9.6b on MySql and I am Beta testing any other code that Ozan throws my way.

    Ben
