    To setup embedded yourself you just install xp pro on the machine and then run the xp embedded component designer app to set it up.

    I would try and get the files that run the app off the machine and test it to see if you can get it to work on a more modern os 7 etc... first if it does stick that on the kiosk or on a new one.

    Whilst I appreciate you are trying to save them some money they will have to upgrade in the future and any additional time you put in to it to save xp is just a time and money sink.
