Hi all,
I am looking for a free alternative to the likes of NetOp School, Lanschool, AB Tutor etc.
Does anyone know of anything out there?
I am going to be running an ICT club after Christmas and some sort of tool to let me view pupil's screens would be great so we can all share each others work. I'm probably the only person who would use it though, so I can't get money to buy anything.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Chris.

We use Italc, and i think lanview is another alternative.
Lanview3 here, also using the VNC Slideshow plugin, watch upto 36 computers at once.
UltraVnc Here, coupled with its great mirror driver, it's a great support solution and comparable to RDP!
Its another version of tightvnc which are all derived from AT&Ts' original vnc open source program, but uvnc has file transfer and chat functions which are sometimes handy, when you want to leave a message to the lecturer or learner that the problem is fixed.
Its also very well supported and open source

From an admin endpoint, Terminals on codeplex is a great management tool in development, a little buggy but really usefull
We use a program called Gencontrol here for a quick spy, it installs on demand and then uninstalls without trace when finished, this product is also based on VNC.

That program is awesome!Originally Posted by cookie_monster
No good for classroom management, but really nice for on the spot fixing of problems in different areas of the school.
http://italc.sourceforge.net/ looks good for management.
I've got iTalc running in one of my primary schools. Works like a charm and the teachers really like it. At the secondary school we use Vision- which can't be more removed from 'free'.
Is there any way in italc to use just the hostname of computers and not enter an IP address?
It's very time consuming to add new computers and I wonder what happens when they change IP?
Great program by the way.
Another plus i forgot to mention about uvnc, with its mirror driver loaded and used the cpu usage is significantly reduced! This is handy for the low spec stuff.
there are lots of sites that have packaged uvnc server as an msi for active directory deployment
Been using Italc all afternoon and I'm trying to work out how I ever did without this program
Very very good classroom management software.
