We have about 60-80 laptops not up to the job of an upgrade. Will be running those until they die as no funds to replace yet. All desktop machines upgraded last summer.

To be fair, XP I think will be missed. It's been a good OS whilst it lasted.

All we will have left is computers that have VERY specialist software, EPOS mostly but there is still a windows 2000 machine connected to a CNC router somewhere, and the upgrade of the router and software to win 7 compatability cannot be justified while it is still operational.

@sparkeh it seemed to run but then after some times of use wouldn't let anyone login including the teachers to the admin portal just for some reason kept saying invalid password when it wasn't the case, have you got a fix?

Those with low end hardware could use Windows Thin PC. Its slightly leaner than full Windows 7.

We have only got a handful of laptops to upgrade now and any which can’t will be blocked off the network (if there on it in the first place)

Just tell her she has 7 days to comply or you will remotely disable it.

Failing that just write it off and wash your hands. Make sure it cannot connect in remotely.

Not for student or staff use, but our cashless catering tills and Display screens across the school will probably remain as XP workstations.
