I am trying to remove a folder but when I click on properties there is no security tab so I can't take ownership (It brings up access denied when trying to open or delete it) The folder is in a pupils area?

Can you move one folder up the tree, and take ownership at that point? We get this occasionally, and that usually works. I find I have to be on the server though - I can't delete through a share in these cases.
Nope Access is Denied when it tries to change owner on this folder. It's called Abstract Backgrounds.

You can download a little .exe file from microsoft call subinacl which allows you to change ownership and security settings from the command prompt. (it's basically an extension of XCACLS)
This should allow you to take ownership of the file/folder, and add yourself to the ACL as well.

Mike.
There's an application called deletefxpfiles by jrtwine software.
This normally manages to remove these.
The trialware is usually enough to get rid of the odd file/folder but it's dirt cheap anyway if it works for you why not buy it!
Have found that scandisk sometimes sorts some of these error.
Sadly Deletefxpfiles doesn't removed folders just files (with the free version).
