    Weird Outlook Problems

We have been having some really weird outlook problems recently. Where when the user presses send and recieve it gives the error

Task 'mail.wsgfl.org.uk' -Recieving, reported error (0x80040900): the server name you have entered cannot be found on the network (it might be down temporairly). Varify that you are online and the server name is correct.
It is now happenning on 2 user accounts one of them is the other tech who is running office 2007 on xp. the other is a pupil who is using office 2003 on xp so i cant say that its 1 of the office versions as the same thing is happening in both versions.

If we logon to the county webmail we can check the emails fine, the settings for the email are 100% correct we have been over them lots of times. We have tried deleting the account out of outlook and re-adding it back in. Tried removing all email attributes in exchange and adding them back in and still the same damn error

    Any ideas??

If it's slowly starting to creep in then you might want to check that the DHCP settings are sending out the correct DNS addresses... It almost sounds like they're renewing their IP address with the DHCP and getting duff info.

I have seen this before and I think it may be profile related.

Right i have given the other tech a new profile and we have re-imaged his laptop just incase it was some weird software update, and it still does the same thing. How do i check if my DNS is working correctly ops: i am having a mental blank.

    Re: Weird Outlook Problems

Oh I had this problem with my own account and it drove me mad.

I found the only way around it was to connect over HTTP, but this obviously times out every so often so I was having to put my username and password in dozens of times a day.

I ended up creating myself a completely new account for the network and email - the only fix.

    Re: Weird Outlook Problems

Is it a completely different Username, email address and Mailbox?

Though I did put my old email address on my account after creating my new one, just not using as default.

    Re: Weird Outlook Problems

I deleted the old account on exchange server so it delted the mailbox as well. Created a new username with 999 on the end logged on, opened outlook, changed the email address to the correct one and it did the same thing
