Hi there,
Issue with word (havent tested other office apps yet) where a user is creating 2 hyperlinks, one to a file in there home drive and one to a web page as a referance, neither of which work and come up with the message "This action has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer"
ive looked through our policys and googled my nuts off but cant find any answers to this, any ideas folks?
Cheers

done all office and windows updates, still the same problem![]()
It might be something in the IE security zones settings then. Try setting it to low for testing. If that works, try narrowing it down to a particular setting.
YES got it to work AT LAST!
completely rebuilt the now ancient student policy, it was a mess and even had a section at the bottom which had "extra registry settings - some templates need re adding" or something like that
thank god for that because its taken me all day lol
I know I'm dragging up a very old post but I have the same problem and I'm struggling to find a solution anywhere. I've narrowed it down to the fact that it's the 'Run Only Allowed Windows Applications' setting in the group policy. So I need to figure out what program it's calling when running a hyperlink from within word.
So mrbios did you setup the new policy with 'Run only allowed windows apps'?
