I did a complete set of firmware updates from a HP Download, you burnt the ISO to CD and it did the works, motherboard, BIOS, RAID Card, Hard Drive Firmwares etc etc it took about 40 minutes to do as it did everything you could imagine! Server seemed fine after it, no better no worse, the reason for doing you may ask is wanted to see if it worked as it should and B was due for a re-format and setup so give it the best start in life![]()
I've had problems with a drive being advised as 'removed from slot' and then minutes later rebuilding, sent a log to HP who advise the smart array firmware needs updating. Always a bit iffy about doing things to the server it's the only one we've got!

I think you will be fine, make sure thats all your doing and no-one who may pull the plug from the mains etc and you should be fine.

I have updated the firmware on at least 10 hp smart array controllers via the online windows softpaq updates and have not yet had a problem with any.
