    Re: IE7 - straw poll

I've been using it on my laptop and PC in the office- However, the NM really seems to dislike it- So i don't think it'll be on the workstations untill the exciting move to vista (add more sarcasm?)

    Re: IE7 - straw poll

I've just rolled it out ob some staff laptops but am still a little confused as to some of the settings to use in GPO.

I'd love to hear what others have done with the run once settings and other little quirks that it has got.

I've rolled it out to classroom/suite PC's. Other than a couple of pop-up blocker issues, it has been fine.

Not rolling it out the staff yet though!

    Re: IE7 - straw poll

Most users have wisely abandoned IE in favour of Firefox. Those that are sticking to IE tell me that are using v6 as their applications won't run under v7.

We rolled out IE7 ages ago and haven't had any issues at all other than ARCServe needing a patch on the server but client side has been plain sailing.

    Re: IE7 - straw poll

I use it all the time, abandoned Firefox for it.

It's not around school though as for some reason whenever anyone tries opening it it just closes imediately. Annoying.

I love the fact that with IE7 a new browser is launched if you try to visit a website from explorer - makes my basic filter work beautifully.

    Re: IE7 - straw poll

We have not rolled it out as for one I have a issue with the fact the homepage can be set by a user (admittedly only until GP refreshes for the client) but that bug alone gives me doubts about the testing procedure as it should not have happened.
Anyway I know their will probably be a IE7 SP1 that comes with XP SP3 to fix the issues hopefully.

Installed it soon after full release with no problems - to staff and pupils.

Its a known bug. Basically your GP will be set but if they can click on the "house" icon and then set the current page as their homepage and then it will be set until GP does its refresh on user settings. It was a while ago when I did it but it did work.

    Re: IE7 - straw poll

Is that such a problem the homepage will be set when they logon what does it matter if they change it to something else for the rest of the logon?
