Is there any need for this setting in a pure Server 2oo3 domain with XP Pro SP2 client's?
I have the OU for Staff laptops in loopback mode, as i do not want things like folder redirection being applyed on them.
I wanted to have a different set of restrictions for an OU of computers with music software on them, and loopback would have been perfect
Couldnt get it to work at all though, both on the main network and a seperate test network, so as far as Im concerned it is a waste of time unless anyone can enlighten me as to why when I selected to replace settings its always ignored it and merged them
I use it so I can assign user based settings to computer OUs. Eg Printers.
We use it on laptops and on certain PC's in the tech department and it works flawlessly.

SYSMAN_MK, just out of interest, how does that work?

Each Room / Area has an OU with the computers in it. I then have vb scripts that are set via GPO to run at user login / logoff. These are linked to the computer OU so the printer are machine specific.
we use it and it is fine (we also use it replace mode)
have you run a rsop on a workstation that you are trying to apply it to to see if you are getting any errors?
I set it up my using the Jeremy Moskowitz book, very helpful!
what i had to was set "no over ride" for the gpo
