    You need 2003 IIRC
mark has a 2000 server/domain setup so it should be available to 2000 - maybe mark can answer tjis one lol

Can't find the .adm reference either! *blushes*! - May have been in Print Manager Plus - I did use an evaluation version we had which never expires [handy - hmmmm! ] - but I took pity on my concience an uninstalled it - dunno the price of that now - I never used it for charging as I said - but did use it to limit job runs, copies per week & blocking printing for kids abusing the pinters. [oh - and maybe printing footers!! ]

    Re: Network Printing

We use PCounter for our printing management. Everyone has 'credit' (free of course) 2p per b/w copy and 10p per colour copy. Although we don't charge it helps keep costs down as when they run out they have to come see us, then we open the log file for that user and can find out if they are using the service correctly.

Is PCounter free? Got any info on it - links etc?

I like PMP (Print Manager Plus) that we use but I'm wondering if theres a freeware/open source solution?

    Cheers

    Re: Network Printing

PCounter is unfortunately NOT free! I am looking at it myself. Had a quote of about £550 per server (which is one here!).

I too would be interested to hear about any free (or very cheap) alternative though I fear it probably doesn't exist.

I just bought Printmanger Plus Academic - £399 for a site license. Looks significantly cheaper than PCounter and Chris (Dos_Box) swears by it.

I have just finished a 60 day trial of Pcounter and it did add a lot of nice features but I cant help but think it was missing a lot for the price. I will have to have a look at print manager plus

Also consider PaperCut. Worked wonderfully for me once I got the updates so it supported my laser printers (Epsons). Oh and the price is great.

Is there a setting in office 2003 .adm that can be set which will make the users name print on the base of all office 2003 documents?

You can do it with a macro in the default template.

    Re: Network Printing

Hmmm Macro in default template now that's something I really need to look into.

We don't have a great problem with kids printing stuff it's the teachers that print like there is no tomorrow.

They all have flexicards for the copiers which they have to pay for credit but they have sussed that if they have a word doc they can just use the printers without paying for it.

Then they go and leave half of it lying round......

Item no 159 on todays job list: Must look into macro for .......
