Right,
Logon Speads are about 30secs her (i here complaints all the time) The Main bulk of 20secs is Due to Internet Explorer Branding Policy, But there is next to nothing set, any ideas on what to remove in GPO and where to spead it up.

Ok, you may wish to review this thread on the Citrix forums and read Microsoft KB 899409. Then feel free to curse and swear.

7th October 2009, 05:44 PM #6 Sorry for a dead thread revival but do people still get this issue? I reckon there's a 10 second or so lag in my logon times but wonder if this is all still valid?

On IE7 \ XP SP3 fully patched and updated when re-imaged this summer...

8th October 2009, 09:39 AM #7 I've just upgraded to IE8 here and the "Branding" policy takes about 3 seconds, same as IE6.
You have to install the hotfix and make the registry change though, otherwise it will be 20 seconds.

18th May 2010, 10:25 AM #9 Bit of a dead thread revival but we still have this issue
The hotfix won't install as it's not made for SP3 but even with the reg key the lag is still there. Gonna try IE8 next but that's not exactly a fix as we may still need IE7 on the image next year... some people have the issue with 8 as well :S
This seems to be similar to our situation... don't get what Microsoft are doing???

How about using the IE8 (SP3) update, although IE7 is installed?

19th May 2010, 03:40 PM #11 We use IE8 here on XP Pro machines and don't have any issues with the "branding" taking more the 2-3 seconds tops.
The patch files I install are:
IE8-WindowsXP-KB941158-v2-x86-ENU.exe
IE8-WindowsXP-KB971961-x86-ENU.exe
and this registry mod:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_PARSING_BRAND ING_CMDLINE_FLAGS_KB941158] "*"=dword:00000001
