PC inspector is awesome
I often get totally dead drives brought to me that dont't show up at all. Nine times out of ten the chip has come unsoldered from the board. What I do is crack the case of and hold the chip in place while the pupil copies their work off (quickly!)
Try using the RECUVA program to recover any data but not sure how to fix the other prob
FWIW PC Inspector and Recuva were both in my "couldn't hack it" category. When pointed at the "not formatted" pendrive the former threw a memory exception, the latter (which is portable so I carry it around) couldn't see anything.
bump for great justice! (yes I know it is a 3 year old thread but damn useful!) Got a pupils USB "not formatted" working again, knew about recuva but not pc inspector. Obviously they had never used their my documents (which is backed up of course).
