    recent MS update knackered WSUS?

I've noticed that all our PC's/laptops have not been able to update since about the start of october/end of September. I logged onto a PC as admin so I can see whats going on - there are about 20 updates waiting to install but when you run it they all fail. This happens on every PC I have tried and the WSUS console shows all clients as failed.

On further investigation I find it may be something to do with the crypto service - so I duly follow instructions regarding this and it still fails. When I've looked further it seems as though a few people have had the same issue and they reckon M$ has released a dodgy patch that broke WSUS - just wondering if fellow edugeekers have been having issues too? :?

Re: recent MS update knackered WSUS?

I thought it was me I'm frequently encountering this problem and I have a nice little BAT file that a female techie (sorry the name escapes me at present) sent me a couple of years ago on this.

    net.exe stop wuauserv
    cd /d %windir%
    rd /s softwaredistribution
    REGSVR32 %windir%\system32\wuapi.dll
    REGSVR32 %windir%\system32\wuaueng1.dll
    REGSVR32 %windir%\system32\wuaueng.dll
    REGSVR32 %windir%\system32\wucltui.dll
    REGSVR32 %windir%\system32\wups.dll
    net.exe start wuauserv

This seems to do the trick - sometimes it needs running a couple of times on the PC that isn't enabling the updates.

We just install the windows updater again, located here:

    http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7...gent30-x86.exe

You may need to restart the PCs.

This would explain some problems I'm having.

One of my WSUS box's has been dead since they launched the new version of it as it broke it on upgrade and won't go back to the old one Bloody MS new versions of things.
