Odd Problem with Logon Box (XP)

Getting this a few times - randomly..

A user presses C+A+D to begin login and find that the Username & Password Fields are Disabled!!

A reboot often cures the problem, but resurfaces later

Completely random as far as i can tell - there appears to be no sure way of identifying what is causing it

Just curious if anyone else has seen this?

I've had it on a few laptops and eventually resorted to the tried and tested swear and reboot approach... One of those little quirks you come across but never have time to sit down and investigate - if anyone has found a KB article/hotfix I'd be interested.

This is because of a bug in some older releases of VNC. Upgrade.

No VNC installed on the laptops I've experienced it on - trying to log in at the keyboard not remotely...

I've had it after vnc'ing to a machine and the user couldn't subsequently logon.

Vnc'ing to the machine again usually solved it.

If that is the msgina.dll (which I think it is) then you have voilated the Microsoft EULA.

Not if u've done it legally - unfortunately the person that done it has buggered off with the source code - starting to remove it as the source code has also gone with said person..

If you want to do it legally, I recommend using pGINA.
