    Forcing Group Policy update

I've recently changed our proxy server to a new address.

I've changed the IE proxy settings in group policy but a number of students still have the old settings for some reason. Rebooting doesnt fix the problem.

Is it just a case of waiting or is there a way to force the new Group policies site wide?

On every computer in the school?

Do I have to be logged in under that user?

Could try using psexec to run gpupdate on all computers using a list.

Try using Remote Group Policy Update Gpupdate | Specops Gpupdate
I have been using the free version for years. Its really good. If you have WOL enabled you can startup the machines, then force a gpupdate and then switch them off again.

This is how I normally do forced updates.

Nice one Fiza, thanks for that - will add that to our catalogue, looks handy!

Thankfully, starting with Server 2012, you can finally force a gpupdate remotely!

Had a fair few problems with this today, mainly because I was testing with IE 10 and Microsoft in their great wisdom have removed the connection settings from Internet explorer and Group policy when you install it!

Interesting gotcha if someone else runs into it. Same applies to anyone running Windows Server 2012
