Hello all,
I'm trying to get a quote for a laptop that is still compatible with WinXP and so has drivers readily available. This is causing my suppliers some trouble, however. Does anyone know of a make/model that fits the bill, whilst still being reasonably good value and not over specificed? We're planning a move to Win7, but for the moment i don't want both on the network causing profile confusions, etc.
Cheers!

We use Lenovo E530 which work fine with XP.
A problem you may have depending on how you do licensing is you will find it very hard to buy Laptops with Windows 7 licenses (you aren't allowed to downgrade Windows 8 to XP). Even laptops advertised as "Windows 7 laptops" will probably have a Windows 8 license.

20th March 2013, 09:12 AM #7 I personally would use the opportunity to test Windows 7 and get it up and running. The roaming profile thing isn't the end of the world there are guides on how to overcome this from this forum

20th March 2013, 10:18 AM #9 Thanks for the suggestions! We're looking at a very small quantity to buy at the moment and so i don't want to spend any time setting up for a single Win7 device knowing that i'll be going Win7 site wide sometime (hopefully) soon, thereby avoiding the profiles issue completely. Plans may change, however!
