    Re: WSUS experiences

Has anyone managed to do the initial WSUS sync through an embc proxy (or any proxy running SWS 3.0?).

I've been through the MS and unofficial guides and as far as I can see, I've done everything right, but it's not syncing with an:

    Code:
WebException: The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to remote server. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
The server is also running SUS which syncs fine using the same proxy settings and the behaviour is replicated on a test box created to double-check that there wasn't anything peculiar to SUS breaking it.

We had a problem at first with sync but found out that the proxy you set must be the server name and not its unc path. Does that help?

    Re: WSUS experiences

I have installed WSUS on an old Windows 2000 server that we use for ghosting, and it is synching fine, and I have pointed one machine to it as a test.

I have told it to store files locally and wants to download around 7 gig of files, but has been stuck at 0% for a day now.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Got it working, a restart seemed to help. Approving updates takes forever as the server is well below the recommened spec, but so far it seems to be coping ok. Updated one lab ok with just a few errors.
