    click here to turn off without installing updates

    Can someone provide the registy key that i can change to disable this from showing within Windows XP Home, i know this can be done with GPEDIT.MSC in Windows XP Professional.

    Am I right in also saying having this disabled it will default in updates not being installed while the computer shutting down.

    Many thanks and merry christmas to all users here

    I think NoAUShutdownOption is what you need.

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
    "NoAUShutdownOption"=dword:00000001
    "NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers"=dword:00000001
    "RebootRelaunchTimeoutEnabled"=dword:00000000
    If you enable this policy setting, ŽInstall Updates and Shut DownŽ will not appear as a choice in the Shut Down Windows dialog box, even if updates are available for installation when the user selects the Shut Down option in the Start menu.
