We currently have a Linux box hosting our VLE (Moodle) and have a module (SMB Web Client) which allows staff and students to access their home directories to download and upload files. The authentication is done through Moodle and these credentials are passed onto the SMB module in order to publish the correct home directory path.
I would like to know if anyone knows of or has a solution in place which will work the same way but without the need for using Moodle and a plugin.
Basically Iím after a simple web interface with LDAP authentication which will publish a userís home directory and allow downloading and uploading of files.
Apologies if this thread is in the wrong forum.

These both look excellent and just what we need. Thank you for such a quick response!
Appsense I have been using for around 5 months in production from beta stages but not in education. It will easily allow you to map home drives (listed in AD) to any device, work can be taken offline and synced back offline from near enough any device.
Home Access Plus we tried, got it working after a load of faffing, then updated it, which broke it again and it got annoying (usual issues with opensource software, lack of support and documentation etc). Not to say that for free, and if you can get it working, it isnt decent.
We now have a Sonicwall SRA device which we can do access to drives and also do RDP sessions through It's much smoother, easier to setup and has a lot more functionality.
