    WSUS and remote SQL

We have 2 DC’s. DC1 is running Sims and SQL 2005, DC2 just runs ISA server in cache mode. Can I install WSUS 3.0 on DC2 and tell it to use DC1 for the SQL database? Failing that should I install SQL Express on DC2 to make a database locally?

    Re: WSUS and remote SQL

You can do either but if you want life to be simple then just install WSUS and let it install its own database (it's a simple version of SQL 2005 - I think it's called something like Windows Internal Database but I could have got the name wrong!)

Having written that, though, I'm not sure you'll get this to work at all - I'm not sure if you can have IIS running on a server with ISA installed. I know we hit problems; that may have been because we wanted to publish web sites through the server so you then get 2 things trying to listen on port 80 and the world falls over :-(
