Windows Server doesn't have the awful Blue that XP does, it's designed to have a smaller footprint, no need to look pretty.

Yes that's correct, themes use resources - and 'pretty' is not the best use of them on a server. If you really want a blue task bar, go to the Display properties in Control Panel, Appearance tab, Advanced button, Item: 3D Objects. Choose a blue colour, OK....

The only side effect of this is that all windows will be blue. But you do get a blue taskbar :P

Actually, win2k3 does have the XP Themes - for those who really wanna enable it (i'm with mrforgetful and webman) then you need to enable the Themes service which is Disabled by default

Windows 2008 makes it a bit more tricky to enable to Vista Home Basic Theme (ie without Glass) as you need to add the Desktop Experience feature then reboot the server..

    To set the Start Menu:

User Config > Admin Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar > Force Classic Start Menu

    To set the Theme:

User Config > Admin Templates > Desktop Themes > Load a specific Visual Style
