I'm trying to set up some HP printers however each time I finish the add printer wizard i get the following error:
Unable to install Printer. The Print Processor does not exist.
This is only occurs for some HP printers in this case LaserJets 1320 and 4200 but does not effect 2550. MS has a fix for servers in a cluster which have this problem, since im not in a cluster this doesn't apply but i've applied for the patch anyway. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it?
Thanks
.Adam
We had this start occuring on the main printer server for the school.
In the end I re-installed windows...
What I had found was a re-start sorted it for a while, it had been something we were running (dunno what) that would regularly cause the print processor to break itself.
I've since moved away from using a windows printer server, all done via linux cups/samba servers now. Which is not a very useful solution.
I doubt this is connected but worth mentioning..
I found that the K550 and a highpoint RAID card 2310 (IIRC) don't like each other at all.. At a guess there's a clashing driver file that has the same name hp*.sys being myopically used by both... So that may be a clue...
Might not be much help but I occasionally get that error when I try and install a printer of which there is another of the same model already installed.
If you select to use the current driver, it can come up with that message. If you install the driver fresh, it finishes installation
