Monitor Files Copied to Memory Stick

Hi,

A member of staff is leaving at Christmas and we would like to monitor if they copy any of the files on the shared drive to a memory stick to take with them.

Is there any software that can do that ?

Why are you concerned about this? When I left my previous employers I took a copy of much of the stuff I created with me... and a lot of that was on the shared drive. I took care to ensure it did not contain sensitive information about the school or the students. Do you have reason to think this staff member is up to anything underhand? Most importantly is this 'your' concern or that of the HT?

The concern is that of the HT. I believe policy in most schools is that any worksheets / documents created maintain intellectual copyright of the school not t

It is true that these documents are the intellectual property of the school, but... honestly... if a teacher has spent hours on creating a scheme of work or designing a form or putting together a spreadsheet for for monitoring or whatever is there any reason why it shouldn't be used at another school?

The reports used in my recent school bore a startling resemblance to the ones at my previous post as I resurrected something from CD that I had created a few years earlier rather than reinvent a wheel.

The only reason for concern in my book is that where confidential data regarding the school, its students or staff falls into the wrong hands. Either way, it is better approached through a "leaver's interview" with a line manager during the notice period rather than stealth tactics.
