Has anyone here rolled out IE7 to all the machines in the school yet? Are there any known issues with any software, such as SIMS.net?
We are still on IE6 here and I'm wanting to get it sorted at some point...

We're currently still on IE6, I'm aware of an issue with OWA. Here is the patch you need to install on the MAIL and OWA server.

Hope that helps!
We have IE7 on all but our SIMS Server. I checked only last week with SIMS Technical help and they recommended not going to IE7 until they advise doing so. As an odd quirk we recently purchased a new Dell small form PC direct through Capita (it seemed to work out cheaper than direct through Dell) for SIMS work and during the initial set up despite telling critical updates not to apply it IE7 came in and went on. We had a Capita contracted technician come in to set SIMS on it and he didn't have a problem with IE7 but for the life of me I can't remember which settings he changed to ensure compatibility. The machine is excellent though apart from an annoying mouse happening which seems to only effect left handed me - I must keep hitting the buttons on the left side of the mouse which results in the screen image rotating!Originally Posted by localzuk

We are using IE7 here. No major problems. The only revision I have had to make in it's deployment is to turn off the Phishing filter, as the pages take too long to load while they are checked if it is enabled.
I've got IE 7 rolled out here with no problems. The only thing I did was to turn off the Phishing Filter.
ie 7 went out just fine here. Group policy was fun, did several things, including
turn off phishing filter
turn off user survey
turn on tabs
turn off other toolbars ( and then uninstall them as they play havoc with ranger)
turn on menu.
I was told that changing GPOs on a workstation with IE7 installed would allow me to change the GPOs for IE7. This wasn't the case however. Do I need to install IE7 on the domain controller?
No you just need the updated ADM templates.

Yes I think so. At least that is what I did here.Originally Posted by _Bat_

I forgot. We also:
Turned off Tabs [For Students]
Turned off User Survey
Turned off Menu Bar [For Students]
I think that's it.
Be aware that if you use Kaleidos, it breaks the client. There is an update available though.
oh, and the deployment pack is very bad, best way to deploy it is using wsus.
Had the same problem, and that patch fixed it.Originally Posted by plock
Amazing how they let that one slip through the net and need to give you a server patch!!

IE7 is crap. We won't be rolling it out until absolutely necessary.
Indeed, Microsoft all over isn't it?Originally Posted by ittech
