When adding network printers to our windows vista clients from a standard 2003 server acting as a print server with HP printers the error
'The specified port is unknown'
comes up, it seems very random and intermittent, but is happening more and more

20th September 2010, 11:56 AM #2 I'm thinking that your hp printers have been setup under an hp printer port rather than a standard TCP/IP port and the driver may not be copying across propperly. Do you have the latest hp drivers on the server and all the appropriate point and print permissions set in GPO?

20th September 2010, 11:59 AM #3 All printers are setup using standard TCP/IP port and all point and print permissions are set correctly
its all a bit odd this, and only happens on vista clients...
