Good morning everybody,
I have just been handed an Acer 5610 laptop with vista installed. All i know is that it can't boot. What has happened i don't know but it sounds like it doesn't need much for this to happen according to other forums i read info on.
What i get is a black screen with:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows Installation disc and restart your computer
2. Choose your language settings and then click "next."
3. click "Repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
File: \Windows\system32\Config\system
Status: 0xc000014c
Info: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing, or corrupt.
I have tried the suggested repair and guess what? It didn't work
What does make me laugh though is they don't even mention that you need to start off your CD to do this, unless i am mistaken and you don't need to
All options to start, safe mode etc. end up with the same outcome.
TIA
