14th August 2008, 08:06 PM #1 avg 8.0 + home premium = reboots on net connect
got a vista home premium laptop ive been asked to have a look at. The owner tried to upgrade from avg 7.x free to the paid for 8.0. However, as soon as soon as it connects to the internet/lan, both wireless or wired, the screen goes blue (not a bsod) and reboots.
Uninstalling avg8 lets it connect fine.
Is there any known issue I should be aware of with avg and vista?

14th August 2008, 08:09 PM #2 No problems here with AVG 8.0 and VISTA. With AVG 8.0 being relatively new I would think it has been designed around VISTA and was probably one of the main reasons for the new release to incorporate VISTA compatibility.

14th August 2008, 11:04 PM #3 finally got it sorted.
After doing a complete windows update, and WU telling me it was fully up to date, and even updating the wireless and wired drivers, it was still rebooting as soon as the network connected.
Ended up ditching the install CD and grabbing the latest version of the paid for installer from the website. This time however, the installer told me it needed an extra KB from microsoft to work (not mentioned at all in the cd version of the installer, and windows update didnt report as needing it).
Windows6.0-KB929547-v2-x86
Installed that, and the avg install worked.
