Explorer using 50% - No Start Menu - Vista

Left clicking the Start Menu doesn't do anything. It works the first time you try it, then nothing.

    Pressing Windows Key, the same

    Explorer.exe running at 50%

Other users on the computer have no trouble

Done sfc scan - found error which promised to fix on restart

Normal left clicking elsewhere is OK

    Have run Malwarebytes

    Any help appreciated

Restart explorer process. Does it work now? Is this a common issue?

Have ended Explorer.exe in Task Manager, so that it restarts automatically, but that isn't happening

Actually, have you tried doing a system restore to some point last week yet?
I have often found this a good quick fix for 'random' problems.

Didn't consider it, but have done a few improvements recently - new MS antivirus - uninstalled some progs - cleanup of temp files etc, so didn't want to necessarily undo good stuff I have done

Although above where it says All Programs" when you click on Start, it is blank white

There should be Internet Explorer, Email and recent program links here ??
