Wireless disconnects after locking Vista laptop
I'm having a problem, whereby on my SONY VAIO laptop, after I log back into the laptop after it has been locked, the wireless disconnects from the Access Point and then re-connects to the Access Point. This is really frustrating because I am constantly having to wait for Vista to decide when it wants to re-connect to the wireless again.
Has anyone else had a problem like this, and do you know what might be affecting this?
Thanks

What's the power setting for the wireless nic set to?
If it's not set to CAM then set it to CAM.

Re: Wireless disconnects after locking Vista laptop
I believe I found out what it was!! The up to date Intel drivers for the wireless nic weren't installed. I was given it by the upper level IT spooks. I don't know!?!?!?!
Thanks a lot anyways Ben. I checked that also, and it did need to be set to CAM. Still didn't work after I changed it, so I did some more rooting!!!

Re: Wireless disconnects after locking Vista laptop
Nope....
It fixed it until I rebooted the bloody laptop. I hate Vista!!! Does anyone have any other ideas as to what might be the problem.
I seem to have run out of ideas and I can't see what else it might be. I've done the usual trawling through Google and nothing has turned up.
Thanks
Luke

Try disabling IPv6 support on the network connection. Check your power settings. Vista may be disabling WiFi to save power.

Re: Wireless disconnects after locking Vista laptop
I've tried that and the same again. I reset the adapter reconnected to the wireless after the changes and the same happened again.
It seems just as I unlock the computer, the wireless cuts off, then reconnects. It's more frustrating because whilst at work I use a VPN to connect throught the wireless and I have to constantly keep putting in my password when it disconnects.
I have the same problem when I go home, only, I don't have to use a VPN so it rules that out as the problem.

Re: Wireless disconnects after locking Vista laptop
Right....
I've uninstalled all Intel software/drivers. Uninstalled the device in device manager, deleting the driver software, and then searched for new devices.
At first Vista said that it had failed when it tried to auto install the drivers, then they installed after a few minutes. (note I had not downloaded any drivers at this point)
I connected to the wireless, used VPN, locked the computer and unlocked it, and it worked fine. No disconnects. I will let everyone know more when I've rebooted and see if I finally have cured the disconnect of doom.
ooo... I forgot I also removed the Wireless switching utility. That might have been the issue.

I've rebooted the laptop and tried connecting, locking and unlocking. IT WORKS!!!
I think I've finally beaten it!!
