    WSUS/IIS Passthrough Issue

I have the WSUS console on a VM and the storage on a core server.

WSUS is setup to reflect this but throws up this error -

The server is configured to use pass-through authentication with a built-in account to access the specified physical path. However, IIS Manager cannot verify whether the built-in account has access. Make sure that the application pool identity has Read access to the physical path. If this server is joined to a domain, and the application pool identity is NetworkService or LocalSystem, verify that <domain>\<computer_name>$ has Read access to the physical path. Then test these settings again.
On the VM I can navigate to the UNC and the Application pool (NetworkService) has read access to the directory but the IIS connectivity test still gives the above issue.

    Any ideas please?

Update - IIS now allows me to browse the content directory in IIS itself but displays nothing in a web browser.

    Update -

WSUS client checker fails with -

    getfileversion failed with hr=0x80070002
I can access http://WSUSServerName/selfupdate/wuident.cab and download.

So, solar winds diag says -

    Windows Update Server: http://updateserver:8530
    Windows Update Status Server: http://Updatserver
WSUS URLs are identical: Not indentical (WSUS URLs should be identical)
WSUS Server Connectivity -- Connectivity check is impossible
Error description: Connectivity check is impossible because of invalid Windows Update Agent configuration
The only difference in the URLs is the port, where does IIS/WSUS store the report port, WSUS is bound to 8530 in IIS. Apparently copy & paste is beyond me right now!

Update policy amended, lets see if it works.

WSUS passes all solar winds tests now, still not updating in the console or getting updates.

    Very weird!
