Switching off networked computers from the server

What do you guys use to switch of rooms full of PCs via the server?
We used to use Netcare 3 as our management system which allowed me to select PCs and power them down or re-boot them. I could also schedule a time for all PCs to close down after I had gone home. The latest edition of Netcare doesn't work with regards to this. I have tried LanShutDown but that doesn't really work. You would think Server 2012 would have something built in to deal with such a common task.

    Any thoughts?

One of the problems is that a lot of the shutdown software doesn't work if the machine is at a login prompt :-(

Have you tried using a .bat

    Shutdown -s -m \\clientname /t 0

Add a line for each client

You can then also run as a scheduled task

    For a restart use

    Shutdown -r -f -m \\clientname /t 0

    Impero

Though obviously would be overkill if you got it just for shutting down PCs

This is how I do it at the end of the day

Alternatively if you run %SystemRoot%\System32\Shutdown.exe -i you can select groups of workstations at a time.

I've set mine to shut down via Group Policy Preferences.
I know it is a simple matter because recently I changed the time as the teachers complained they were shutting down too early.I have this in both schools.
