DPM 2007 - Replica is inconsistant.
Had some fun playing with this... got 4TB of drives and an LTO4 drive to backup Sims, Exchange03 and a few file servers.
Two file servers in particular both have 100GB (G) and 150GB (H) drives with about 20GB of data on each (dont ask). C,D, SystemState are all backing up fine, but drive on each file server doesnt want to sync.
I have removed the protection groups, deleted the windowsbackupimage folder, rebooted and remade the protection groups.
The description is: The replica of volume X on <server> is inconsistant with the protected source. All protection activities for data source will fail until the replica is synchronized with consistancy check. DPM failed to synchronize changes for volume X on <server> because the snapshot volume did not have sufficient storage space to hold the churn on the protected computer. id 30115. Details: Error unknown.
recommended actions:
Retry operation at a later point when the churn is expected to be lower.
Sync with consistancy check.
I've been waiting about 4 days for the 'churn' (WTF) to be lower.
I have allocated more than enough space to the replica drives and recovery point drives. Testiment to this is that one of the larger drives copies and consistany checks ok, yet a smaller drive fails. G on one server and H on another both keep failing within 5 seconds of a consistancy check, copying over 0 data (well 90mb of data).
Anyone else had these issues with DPM or know a little more than me how it works??
Doing my head in a bit now.
