Just wondering what would be the safest networking aspect of my current Server 2008 VMware session ?
I built it without any networking options but obviously now want to experiment a bit more with it.
I obviously don't won't it interfering with our current network so was wondering if it was worth adding it as a Host-only type or would using a Bridged connection be safe ?
I can't see it being a problem unless I add it to the domain but thats not going to happen !!
Nothing wrong with bridged connection, or adding it to the domain for that matter. Just don't implement anything on it which would conflict with your network, such as DHCP or turning it into an AD server...
Kind'a defeats the purpose of the eval. OK you may not want to test the DHCP but definitely the AD stuff. If resources can also stretch to a Vista instance then you can really see what the fuss is all about.Quote:

VmWare workstation? If so just use a virtual network: Custom - VMnet2
Then set any clients to the same network and away you go, server and client on their own virtual network.
