Group Policy is failing.
Been having an issue with my group policy for a few days now. Long story short somebody decided to delete a load of DNS and GP data (no idea why). There are only 2 people with access to this and I didn't do it. So anyway Group policy decided to fail big time last week. I rebuilt the workstations policy and the staff and student policy's. These seem to work fine. Most computers on the network work well. However about 10% of them will fail group policy, it just fives students black screens no drive and no restrictions!!! After digging a lot deeper into DC-01 I found several problems that i have now fixed, however I keep getting an error on workstations under component status! (picture attached)
Any one have any ideas what this might mean? i know it means that files cant be accessed but why i can see when fine and as far as i am aware nothing has changed on them.
Any ideas would be great starting to pull my hair out (well would it I hadn't had it cut yesterday)
So I restarted and now I get this!Attachment 21575
Has someone deleted the policy definitions folder in sysvol?
No I still have the folder, and that is all intact!
Have you tried just a general system restore on the affected machines? Since it is only a handful of machines have to seen which server they are getting the policies from? We had a problem many years ago where one of our DCs was failing distributing out group policies. In the end it had to be retired.
