Just got a brand new server (Fujitsu TX100 S3 is what it says on front) and a copy of w2k8.
I tried installing w2k8 but it said it needed a driver for the cd drive???? and invited me to stick a usb pen or another cd in.
Is this normal????
Fujitsu site doesn't seem to sell TX100 S3s
Si (glug glug - help!)

23rd March 2012, 05:49 PM #2 Did you get a message saying "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing"? This is usually caused by the install media being corrupt e.g. a bad ISO file.

23rd March 2012, 07:27 PM #3 From memory - I think that's exactly what I got!
Damm - it took me 2 weeks to get our Dark Lords sales dept to send me this one (took a week and 2 phone calls to get them to ship it and when it didn't arrive I found they sent it 2nd class post!!!!!!
Can I use any w2k8 r2 iso?
Can anyone pm me a link

26th March 2012, 08:51 AM #4 It wasn't the install media
Googling brings up lots of WIn7 installs with same problem "cured" by setting SATA in bios to IDE.
This also works for me
but I'd like the RAID facility so I don't really want to have to install in this manner.
(Unless I can install now and sort out raid later????)
Googling isn't getting me anywhere - the server comes with some software called ServerView but that seems to be some sort of management for deploying loads of servers in a cluster.
Slowly sinking here

26th March 2012, 08:58 AM #5 Installing off USB media is pretty straightforward anyway - follow this simple guide - might be the least-faffy way of getting it done.

Microsoft's Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool is even easier.

26th March 2012, 09:59 AM #7 You probably just need the SATA/SAS and intel chipset drivers from here if your willing to wait for Fujitsu's site:
Here
Greif its slow.
edit: You may need to extract those by running them and checking the %temp% folder for their contents, i thik 7zip also does this.
Edit 2: also assume you mean 2k8 R2?

26th March 2012, 01:03 PM #8 It looks like the "serverview" dvd that came with it is the tool to use - it has a simple mode for me (Once you've plugged a USB Stick in to record the install???)
I'll report back later

26th March 2012, 03:08 PM #9 Well that was a waste of 2 hours of my life
The "helpful" ServerView software asks a lot of questions and is then does an unattended install.
What I failed to realised was how pedantic it is over what flavour of w2k8 dvd I've got.
If I got one think wrong with the description, it would go all the way through to the point of "put your os dvd in" and then it would say - can't find an appropriate OS!!!!!
Turns out I have W2k8 R2 Std 64bit (NO SP) and now its installing (it just takes about 30 mins between attempts and re-entering passwords/ip address)
Maybe I'll have a new server by the end of the day - maybe not !
Si
@fujitsu - if you are going to write "helpful" software - then make it a bit more helpful!!!
