    Redirecting 'My Documents' to a network share using GPO

    Hi there,

    I'm trying to sort out redirection of the 'My Documents' folder in XP to a network share using the UNC path.

    Firstly, the only option available for 'My Documents' with regards to folder redirection in a GPO is the 'Documents' folder. I have tried pointing this to the share and selection the option that is supposed to get this to work on XP etc but basically it isn't working!

    I have tried several sites for help but can find anything.

    The server is Win Svr 2008 Standard 64bit and all the clients are XP Pro Sp3 with all the updates applied.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

    What do the error logs say on the client?

    Do you have Client Side Extensions installed on your xp clients?

    The users home directory is mapped to the same location and works find. However the folder redirection generates this error on the client machine:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Folder Redirection
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 101
    Date: 11/09/2011
    Time: 12:34:10
    User: STMARYS\teacher
    Computer: TEST-PC
    Description:
    Failed to perform redirection of folder My Documents. The new directories for the redirected folder could not be created. The folder is configured to be redirected to <\\stmarys-01\Teachers$>, the final expanded path was <\\stmarys-01\Teachers$>. The following error occurred:
    This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object.
