Does DiskShadow say the same?
Code:diskshadow list shadows all
We have a server 2008 server that runs and IIS to host our VLE, along with other bits and bobs like Mysql etc. Its main task is running Symantec CPS (for anyone not aware Symantec CPS uses shadow copy to snapshot remote server at regular intervals).
I have noticed that the partition that contains my VLE (100gb) has a 91gb system volume information folder on it making the partition near at capacity.
So i set about Symantec assuming that i had set up some destinations incorrectly, but have come up with nothing. Still convinced it is a shadow copy issue i cranked up the command prompt and entered the “vssadmin list shadowstorage” command and there is no shadow copy storage listed on for this partition.
Can anyone shed any light on why this System Volume Information folder is so big, and will it eventually run out of space and cause chaos?
It hard to say, there are 394 shadows listed and the command window wont scroll up far enough to check them all, i look as they wiz past my eye and i dont say anything relating to the logical disk in question.
