    Server 2008 ahhhhh!!!

    Hi

I have a server 2003 domain and i have just added a Server 2008 x64 server to it as a directory services server not a DC. This new server is being used for the new Exchange Server 2010. I have already got a Exchange 2003 on the same domain, but i am having trouble getting Exchange 2010 installed its refusing to communicate with AD and saying Exchange 2003 server already exisits.

    Help!!

    Any help would be appreciated!!

    Faza

You have to upgrade the AD domain for Exchange 2010. You can't just install it.

Worth saying that Exchange 2010 setup does all the ADPrep for you for all instances as far as I know, it certainly has for me, you just need to make sure you meet the actual system requirements EG .Net, IIS, ASP etc etc. MS provide on the DVD a Scripts folder which has XML files in that you can run in powershell to automate the setup of everything which will help to speed things up and keep them simple

How do i perform the upgrade to the AD?

    It says

    Error:
Coexistence between exchange server 2010 and exchange server versions older than exchange server 2007 sp2 in the same ad site is not suppported.

I have gone to the recommended site but i am totally confused.

Try having a read of this - Upgrade Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 that might help, you will have to do some jiggery pokery to get it sorted
