    Re naming server after transferring roles error

    Hi Ive been installing a new server today from 2003 to 2008 ive transferred all the roles which have crossed over fine no issues what so ever ive removed the old server from the domain but for the life of me i can not rename the new server im getting an error "Can not complete this function" Anyone have any ideas im so close yet so far

    Short answer: Use netdom

    Further info: Rename Windows Server 2008 Domain Controllers

    Managed to resolve this turned out that its because it was running in 2000 mode once i put it onto 2003 native it let me rename it only using the above guide with the netdom command told me why tho thanks pete
