    IE8 Problem

    HI

I have just upgraded to IE8 in school and I have a problem. The students are getting a message when going to the google site that says

A program has attempted to change the default search provider and is you click ok it brings up a screen manage your add ons.

Has anyone got an ideas which policy I have to change to stop this.

    Thanks for all your help.

    Richard

Use the IE8 group policy (inetres from an IE8 machine) to prevent it: User - Administrative Templates - Windows Components/Internet Explorer - Prevent performance of First Run Customize settings

I've seen this, and IIRC it is to do with removing the search bar part of IE8.

Not 100% sure on this, give it a try and see.

One thread on MS sites has a fix here - could try it. We removed IE8 because of another problem (with winlogon.exe causing bsod) - still haven't found either a cause or a fix for that one.

    HI

Does anyone have an adm to import into gpo in server 2008 that will allow me to set the search provider in group policy. I have looked at the notes on how to do it but cannot make head nor tail of it.

    Thanks

    Richard
