23rd April 2009, 12:07 PM #1 Can't Import Certificate for Exchange 2007
After much hoop jumping (to keep the SWGfL happy), finally got a free certificate issued by ipsCA for use with our new Exchange 2007 box.
So now have a 'certificatename.cer' file ready to use......
Whenever I use the Import-ExchangeCertificate command within powershell, I get the following error message:
Import-ExchangeCertificate : The source data cannot be imported or the wrong password was specified.
Tried looking round the web, and the only real relevant article with Microsoft is Import-ExchangeCertificate fails with "the source data cannot be imported or the wrong password was specified" which relates to a problem with the Private Key so don't really think that's the issue as I'm only hitting the first issue listed in that article.
The necessary thumbprinted certificate request is on the server ok, but just can't seem to get this to import.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Pete

Just re-saved the file from ipsCA again and just noticed the newer file is half the size of the original one. Most odd. Any way, just tried an import, but now getting a certificate with Thumbprint ...... not found.
Hells Bells

24th April 2009, 09:09 AM #3 Think I've got things working, it would appear that my Exchange Box experienced what is detailed in this very useful article:
https://support.comodo.com/index.php...188&nav=0,1,90
Certificate is now installed and working for external access, but still get security errors on the internal network. Even though the internal address was listed in the CSR to ipsCA. Can work on that one.
I'm starting to think Exchange 2007 is a half baked product.

Have you applied all the exchange services to the new certificate?
