Migrating from Windows 2000 Server to Windows Server 2008
Hi
Just wanted to know what is the best method to migrate from a Windows 2000 Server to Windows Server 2008. Current Sever Roles are Domain Controller / Active directory / Network shares / DNS / DHCP / Print Server. Were planning to buy a HP Proliant ML370. Does anyone have any suggestions please?
Thanks

3rd April 2009, 10:29 AM #2 I think the best way is to install Windows Server 2008 on the new server and promote that one to a Domain Controller, but on the Windows 2000 function level (i.e. don't change it to the 2008 function level!)
You can then gradually move each role over from the 2000 server to the new server.
Only once all is well with the new server, say for about a month or so, then retire the old server as a domain controller and shut down the old server.
