    ABE on Server 2008

    Probably been discussed before but can't find it! How do you turn on Access Based Enumeration on multiple shares? I know how to do it on one share but there must be a way of doing it on all without going through each one. A nice command line utility would be nice!!

    I thought ABE on Server 2008 was enabled by default, so depending on the ACLs you set, ABE should automatically work.

    On Server 2003 SP1 or later, you have to enable ABE on the relevant shares. As far as I know you cannot script it for multiple shares.

    It's built in but not enabled by default.

    1. Admin Tools -> Share & Storage Management

    2. Right Click the Share you want and go to properties

    3. Sharing Tab -> Advanced Button.

    4. Tick the 'Enable Access Based Enumeration' check box and Apply the settings.

    As for command line, assuming the server has the File Server Role, you can use 'abecmd' just like you could on W2k3.

    Code:
    abecmd [/enable | /disable] [/server <ServerName>] {/all | <ShareName>}
