Quick Sanity Check....
Would appreciate your input, I’m just going through something and I just want to check that I’ve got it right before I commit.
Currently building new VMs on our new XenServer, and one is going to be an additional Domain Controller which I’m going to use 2008 R2. Currently have 2003 SP2 as our main Domain Controller and have another Domain Controller which is running on our other XenServer but is running 2008 NOT R2. This was added and setup last year. Domain Functional & Forest level is still at 2003, but I believe we upgraded the Schema to 2008 last year and moved the Infrastructure Role over to the 2008 DC.
The 2003 Server has to remain on 2003 for the time being due to other services being on there at this time. Will more than likely move Infrastructure Role to new 2008R2 DC and the rebuild that DC with R2 also.
Just making sure that I should be able to add the 2008 R2 as a Domain Controller without having to do anything else, or will I need to run adprep on the 2003 DC with 2008R2 Media?
As I said, just checking what I’m doing with other like minded professionals. Just making sure that things like our Exchange Box (running SP1 on Server 2008) won’t be upset by this, plus other things.
Appreciate your input.
yup you will need to run adprep on the 2003 AND 2008r1 boxes
Just the DC's right?
aye workstations dont need to be done
