Ok so I thought I resolved an issue I had a while back where our staff share wasn't reconnecting yet all the other shares where. I have looked more into this and seens that all the other shares are file system NTFS but this seems to be CSC-Cache. So I went onto the server and made sure the staff share was no longer available to use offline although workstations are still seeing the share as CSC-Cache and I have no clue why!! Any help how to resolve this :(
Look at offline files - disable it on machines if not needed - causes this behaviour.
How would I disable it on machines? Does that mean I'm going to have to go to every local machine and disable it there? I have turned the staff share offline files off on the server
But I don't want to turn this off completely do I as I have offline files enabled for the staffs Home drive??
You apply the gpo to target the machines you do want to turn it off on such as static desktops etc... using groups, ou's, wmi filtering or whatever is your preferred method.
See that's the problem though :( I need the staff laptops to see the staff share as filesystem NTFS not CSC-Cache but to still keep the staff H drive as CSC Cache (offline files) so I can't apply it to those machines. The static machines aren't the problem???
The CSC cache is deeply integrated into windows at many levels. Have you patched your clients and servers up to the latest versions?
Start with the enterprise hotfix rollup
Add the latest File Services hotfixes,
The latest Profile service hotfix
and the latest CSC hotfix.
Then reset the CSC on the affected machines (make sure that users have synced their files back to the server before reseting!)
Hope this helps.
Sorry for the slow reply... Good old Sims Autumn updates never goes as smoothly as you plan it! I have applied these hotfixes to the server, this might sound proper noobish but how do I reset CSC on machines?? Thanks for your help :)
